A highly complex cybernetic system

Our healthcare system is like a Pandora's box. Too many players are developing an actionism that makes it increasingly difficult to identify causes and measure effects. The instruments for measuring effects sometimes interfere with processes and in turn become the causes of new effects, which in turn need to be investigated.

The cost argument

The control instruments and processes with which the health economy influences medicine are justified with the argument of cost control and under the assurance that they do not discriminate against anyone. It is often difficult to recognize their discriminatory effect on patients. However, it is obvious to everyone that they fail to achieve their cost-reducing effect: No cost-cutting instrument has actually reduced costs.

The communication problem

It is recognized that there are problems in the interaction and communication between health economics and medicine. It is also recognized that they lead to situations that are not to the benefit of patients, insured persons or premium payers. However, we are not just dealing with two professional groups here, but with two systems that each have their own codes and communicate in their own way.

The problem of the balance of power

The economy is currently imposing its code and concepts on medicine. In doing so, it is placing it in a communication situation in which it must dissolve as a system in order to become part of the economy. This is already creating ethically problematic situations today and must be counteracted. This requires knowledge transfer and a willingness to expand knowledge on both sides. And mutual respect. Fairfond wants to make a contribution to this.
